A cloud-based smart workspace offering cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software. The Dropbox platform, marketing and software have been localized to 180 different countries and languages.
The English to Swedish Translation Project (2015 – 2020)
Together with a team of four other Swedish translators I localized software, help files, and marketing material for the Swedish market in a way that is culturally relevant so that the users can feel at home with the software in their own language.
Format
All content was imported into Smartling, a cloud-based, online localization tool providing context, glossaries, and translation memory for consistency.
Challenges
Large content volumes, tight deadlines, and the need to maintain consistency in a team of five Swedish translators. Localizing US cultural references to equivalent expressions that work in Sweden.
